Matchmaker page

It's BACK!
We have decided to offer the matchmaker foals again starting with breedings in 2011.  The stallion used will be KC's I-Kinn Do It and the mares are both Morab and Arabian.  The Morab mares will produce Morab foals and the Arabian mares will produce Half Arabian foals.

This is an onsite lease program where you don't pay for the stud fee for Ike, it's included in the price.  The foal will be registered with the appropriate registry and includes the cost of transferring the papers.  Membership in said registry is up to the buyer.   The cost of caring for the mare, stud fee, and board of the foal to 6 months old is included in the cost.  The foal is yours once it is born and I would facilitate insurance if you would like.  Feed and worming will be included in cost.  I will take care of the foal with our high standards of care and many years of experience, but will not refund money for a foal if it dies after birth.  If it is not born live you will have the option of a rebreed for the next year at no additional costs.

Costs are as follows:
Deposit:$250, paid when you decide you want to breed a certain mare to the stallion
$500 when the foal is two weeks old.
$250 when foal is 6 months old and before he/she leaves ranch
Total cost to you is $1000 plus any veterinary expenses incurred by the foal while it is here on the ranch.  I do not anticipate any expenses, but foals do like to get into mischief and if it's not something I can take care of, the vet will be called and you will be responsible for reasonable charges, just as if it were at your ranch instead of ours.

If you want to breed one of our mares to an approved stallion, we will discuss the options with you.  Just ask if you want to inquire about this option. Except in rare cases, the mares may not be taken off the ranch.

THE STALLION
KC's I-Kinn Do It is a young Morab stallion with great bloodlines.  He stands about 15 hands tall and is quite substantial in his build.  Good bone, correct conformation and excellent bulk for athletic ability.  He is a great Morab stallion.  Click on his photo to go to his page with his pedigree.  He is double registered Morab and Half Arabian.  Genetic color test revealed he is ee/Aa, this means he can produce black foals when bred to a mare with the same potential.

THE MARES
Red Rock Harmony is a chestnut Morab mare.  She is 50/50.  She is 15.2 hands tall as a three year old.  She has a very mellow disposition and will be taken off the sales list if she is under contract as a matchmaker mare.  A foal out of Harmony and Ike will be registered as a Morab.  Foal would be chestnut in color.
Sylvan Jamala is an Arabian mare who would produce a Half Arabian by Ike.  Foal would have a "2A" number.  Would be chestnut in color and likely to have white markings.

Redroc Jamala is a black bay Arabian mare.  She may be homozygous for black as she has always produced bays when bred to chestnut.  I would just about guarantee this foal would be bay.  It will be a phenomenal athlete and about 15 hands in size.  It will be another Half Arabian foal with a "2A" number.
Motherways Rahab is a bay Morgan mare.  She stands about 14.3 hands and foal will be registered as a Morab.  I have not color tested Rahab, she may or may not be homozygous for black or agouti.  If that is important to you, please let me know.
Redroc Stormileah is a 14.3 hand grey Arabian Mare.  She is an in your pocket type of mare and produces foals on the large side.  Lots of egyptian breeding.  I am sure she is single agouti, may be homozygous for black and homozygous for grey.  What this means is she will always produce a foal that turns grey.  She has never produced a red foal, it has always been black based and twice it has been black.  She can produce black out of Ike, but it will then turn grey.   If color is important to you, I can test her.
*CONTRACT PENDING on Sierra X Ike

Red Rock Sierra is a grey Morab filly.  50/50 out of Redroc Stormileah above.  She is going to mature at will over 15 hands.  She is not homozygous for grey since her sire is chestnut.  She is black, so when bred to Ike she will have a good chance of producing black.  She also has a 50% chance of passing on the grey gene.  I have not tested her but I do believe her genetic makeup is Ee/aa/Gg.  She is very mellow and moves nice.  This would be an awesome cross for a trail, endurance, family or ranch horse.

Red Rock Treasure is a bay Morab mare.  She has not been tested for her agouti status.  She could be homozygous for black, and also homozygous for agouti.  If color is important, I can test her for you.  I would expect her to mature at 14.2 hands.  Bred to Ike this foal would be very quick on it's feet and stout.   She will be removed from the sales list if under contract for a matchmaker foal.

Also available are Crescent Jamala and Redroc Ryiah, both full sisters to Sylvan above.  Both bay in color.  Crescent has produced several foals, Ryiah is a maiden mare.

We also have an AQHA mare, A Dashing Daisy who is a smokey black mare.

This sort of sums it all up and something I found on the internet:

A Great Poem......JUST A HORSE

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse," or, "that's a lot of money for "just a horse".
They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent or the costs involved for "just a horse". Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a horse."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse", but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a horse", and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a  horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you think it's "just a horse", then you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend", "just a sunrise," or "just a promise".
"Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a horse" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a horse" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.
"Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman/man".
