This flaxen, sabino, rabicano chestnut gelding was about the sweetest stallion you will find.  Has been ridden some.  Gelded in May of 2007 and is now fully socialized in a mixed herd in a range situation.  Very easy to handle from the ground.  As a stallion he would come over to the fence and just hang around waiting to be loved on.  Our son would go in with him when he was a stallion and scratch Rock and gives him hugs and Rock would just get a sleepy content look in his eye.  He loves people.  He is bred similar to many top endurance horses, and if you watch him move effortlessly over the terrain, you can envision him floating across the sands of the desert.  He is CMK and Polish bred.  Linebred *Raffles on the sires side, he has a lot of the old wonderful characteristics that *Raffles get inherited from their illustrious sire.  *Raffles was bred by Lady Judith Wentworth of the Crabbet stud in England. His large dark eyes and exquisite type caught the attention of Jimmy and Thelma Dean from Kentucky.  At 13.1 hands his plucky personality added much to the mares of America at the time.  *Raffles was himself linebred Skowronek, whos ideal type was sought after by Abbas Pasha I, Viceroy of Egypt.  He spent a fortune collecting from the desert.  *Raffles was said to be a replica, on a smaller scale of his sire.  Silver Drift is a full brother to *Serafix from the Crabbet Stud in England.   Of course he also has *Bask in his background.

He is also vetgen tested as a carrier of the SCID gene.  You are welcome to visit with me about my reasons for leaving him entire in light of the fact he is defective.  But,  keep in mind there are very few factors in horse breeding that are known and since there is a test for the SCID gene, there was no reason to eliminate his good qualities from the gene pool.  He had much to offer the breed and need not ever produce a SCID affected foal.  For more information about the SCID gene, and other lethal foal genes, visit the FOAL.org website.    He is now gelded so this is irrelevant except for the fact he produced offspring.

His first foal of the year 2004 is a nice minimal sabino who is SCID clear.  Rock should produce about 50% clear foals and 50% carriers.. Photo at bottom of page

His second foal is also a minimal sabino filly and is also vetgen tested SCID clear. Photo at bottom of page.
